AU-8 Time Stamps

Description​

Information resources are configured to use internal system clocks to generate time stamps for audit records.

Applicability​

  • This Control applies to all Texas A&M University information resources containing controlled or confidential information. The intended audience is all individuals who are responsible for the installation of new information resources, the operations of existing information resources, and individuals accountable for information resources security.

Implementation​

  • 1Information resource custodians are responsible for:

    • 1.1Configuring information resources to use internal system clocks to generate time stamps, including date and time, for audit records; and
    • 1.2Recording time stamps for audit records that can be mapped to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) within an acceptable degree of accuracy
