Student Lifecycle
Applicant
When a student applies to Texas A&M University, they receive a UIN (Universal Identification Number) and can claim their NetID. This is the initial state for a prospective student's NetID.
Admitted
Once a student is offered admission to the university, their NetID transitions to the "Admitted" state. In this state, they can begin using their email account provided via Google Workspace.
Enrolled
Before enrolling in classes, most students are required to complete a "New Student Conference." After completing this requirement, their NetID transitions to the "Enrolled" state.
In the "Enrolled" state, a student's NetID is considered either "Future" or "Current" depending on whether the classes they have registered for are in the future or are actively taking place.
Not Enrolled
After completing a semester or dropping all their active courses, a student's NetID transitions to the "Not Enrolled" state. However, they are still considered an "Active" student until a full long semester passes without enrolling in any future courses.
Former Student
If a full long semester passes without the student enrolling in any courses, their NetID transitions to the "Former Student" state, unless they never completed at least one full semester of coursework.
Alumni
If a student graduates and is awarded a degree, their NetID transitions to both the "Former Student" and "Alumni" states.
